Presentational Writing: Persuasive Essay

Summary: In the Presentational Writing: Persuasive Essay portion of the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam you’ll be required to write a persuasive essay on a topic given in the examination booklet. Two printed passages and one audio selection on the topic will provide ideas and information you will need to use in your essay. The persuasive essay accounts for one-eighth (12.5 percent) of your total AP Spanish exam score. This chapter provides suggestions on how to write the best persuasive essay possible in the time allotted and give you some ideas on how to go about preparing for this part of the examination. Then you’ll be given 10 sample essay topics, each with two reading passages and one audio selection similar to what you will encounter on the actual test. Use these sample topics to familiarize yourself with the test and practice your persuasive essay writing skills. Finally this chapter also includes a detailed explanation of how your essay will be scored.
